Who is RH? Hi! I’m Rachel. Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Health Coach here to help inspire you to be the BEST VERSION OF YOU! Through mindful lifestyle shifts of eating whole real foods, fitness and movement, self-care and beauty, we can make transformations happen.
I am a young woman striving to continue to make conscious choices about what makes me FEEL GOOD! Discovering our best selves is an endless mission that’s always evolving. Where should we start? I believe it all starts with intention.
Through my own revelations, research and post graduate holistic nutrition education as well as personal life experiences, I have learned that I already have all the answers within. By focusing on intuitively listening to what my mind and body needs, and developing a healthy mindset around food while creating routines and a lifestyle that works for me, I have transformed my life.
It all began in my later high school years and got worse throughout college, especially since I graduated from the University of Hawaii and was in a bikini practically everyday. I have dealt with ‘false body image’ portrayed by the media and other outlets that manipulate young women to chase the perfect, skinny body and the only ways in which to achieve that was by hardcore dieting (starve yourself), crazy intense workouts (abuse and injure your body), and try all the magic pills, teas, juice cleanses and meal replacement shakes (waste all of your hard earned money and destroy your body further) you can get your hands on. And of course, throw heavy binging into the mix with all the convenient junk food readily available and consuming ridiculous amounts of alcohol, you’ve got a recipe for disaster.
Years and years of trying everything under the sun, It wasn’t until I was approaching my 30’s when I had physically and emotionally painful hormonal cystic acne and couldn’t figure out why? After several appointments at the dermatologist only to be left with a variety of antibiotics, high-blood pressure medication (I never even had high-blood pressure?), countless tubes of topical bleaching creams, hydro-cortisones and peels, I was exhausted. While spending hours online researching possible causes for hormonal cystic acne, I began to discover that adult acne was linked to hormones, diet and lifestyle habits. During my final dermatologist appointment, I asked the Doctor if hormonal cystic acne was linked to diet, she said “absolutely not!” and suggest I go on Accutane. I refused, and left the appointment disappointed and discouraged, with yet another prescription of antibiotics and benzoyl peroxide. I got in my car and immediately started to cry my eyes out. I was fed up and promised myself that I would make it my mission to get to the ROOT CAUSE of my issues.
Since graduating from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, I feel that I have a crucial role in improving health and happiness in women’s lives and through that process, building a ripple effect that can transform the world.
